The City of Kenora has many winter activities to keep you and your family moving during those long winter months. Spend the day at the ski hill, go for a skate on an outdoor rink, or hit the trails on cross country skis or by snowmachine.
Skiing, snowboarding and tubing
Mount Evergreen, located at 120 Mt Evergreen Road, will have you skiing or snowboarding down 11 runs for various skill levels with two T-Bar lifts, a Terrain Park, tubing hill, and a fully equipped chalet including rental equipment.
Cross country skiing
Kenora's cross country skiing opportunities are limitless! You can choose to ski frozen waterways, rugged forest landscape or professionally groomed trails of Rushing River Provincial Park, Mount Evergreen, and Vernon Nature Area trails.
Snowshoeing
Kenora lends itself to endless snowshoe adventures; whether is it hitting one of our year round trails, venturing on to frozen waterways or maybe making your own tracks. Check out Tunnel Island trails, Rabbit Lake trail, Vernon Nature Area, Rushing River Provincial Park or trails at Minaki Yurt Adventures.
Snowshoe rentals are available at Green Adventures on River Drive.
Ice biking
Check out Kenora's newest outdoor winter adventure! You will find the Mosswood Adventures and Rentals mobile ice bike service at various lakes and rinks in the Kenora region in the colder months. Their main pop-up for weekends mid-January through mid-March are found on the Lake of the Woods ice roads right next to the Hard Water Cafe.
Skating
You can skate at an arena or try your blades on an outdoor rink.
Outdoor skating
Jarnel Contracting Pavilion is located on the Kenora Harbourfront, annually a man-made rink is placed under the tent for the public to enjoy. This rink is a lovely place to skate with beginners due to its size while also offering a sheltered outdoor skating experience.
Ride-out Community Club is located in the residential area of Rideout is an outdoor hockey style rink open for public use. Patrons are welcome to bring their hockey sticks and start a game of shiny.
Evergreen Community Club is located near Evergreen Elementary School is the Evergreen Community rick a hockey style rink that lends itself to leisurely skating or a pick up hockey game.
Additional unofficial outdoor rinks are created by residents on waterways near homes and camps.
Indoor skating
The Moncrief Construction Sports Centre provides a variety of times for indoor skating opportunities. On any day of the week you will see all ages of hockey players on the Thistle Arena ice; though they do share the ice with figure skaters and there are a few public skate times every week.
The Bowman Electric Keewatin Memorial Arena also hosts many hockey players, figure skaters and curlers; while offering a few public skate times weekly.
Curling
Grab your broom and curling shoes to play in a league or just for fun at either one of the two curling rinks.
The Kenora Curling Club is host to many great events, past and present. The club is a great way to get out, have fun and meet new people.
The Keewatin Curling Club and event facility is equipped with 3 sheets of curling ice, a bar, kitchen, and lounge area.
Snowmobiling
Kenora being the hub of over 600 km of snowmobile trails allows riders to access 14 designated trails going in all 4 directions while enjoying nature's beauty over diverse landscapes. Check out trail maps by local group Sunset Trail Riders as well as regional maps by the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) and The Northwest Angle Edge Riders Snowmobile Club.
