Many public beaches are maintained by the City of Kenora. Enjoy beaches with sandy shores as well as docks, piers, lookout decks and boardwalks. Rent a boat or take the shuttle service to get to Coney Island Beach. You can rent a kayak, canoe, or paddle board for your day at the beach too.
Please be considerate of others enjoying theses recreational spaces. Always be water safe.

Coney Island beach |

On Lake of the Woods, with boat access only in summer.
This summer, you can take a shuttle to Coney Island to spend the day on Kenora's number one beach. Lake of the Woods Marina and Service Centre offers scheduled pontoon rides to Coney Island from the Kenora Harbourfront. For more information about the shuttle service, please call 807-546-5689. Beach etiquette
While enjoying a day at the beach, please be courteous to others. Review our rules and regulations:
Pets
- Pets are not permitted on City beaches, sports fields, playgrounds, gardens or green space areas
- Keep pets on a leash
- You are required to clean up after your pet – look for doggie do-do bags provided for free by the City of Kenora
- Animal Control By-law 150-2010 applies
- Dogs are allowed to run leash-free at the Kenora Off-leash Dog Park only
Cleanliness
- Do not litter – always use trash cans or take your garbage home for disposal
- Practice “Pack it in, pack it out”
Enjoyment for all
- No merchandise sales
- Post posters or signs on event boards only
- No soliciting business
- Play organized sports and games in only designated areas
- Use BBQ in designated areas only
- Alcohol is not permitted
- Be respectful of wildlife
- Do not disturb or damage ground, vegetation or gardens
- Practice “Take photos, Leave footprints”
- Be aware of your own noise levels, including music, to not disturb others
- Overnight camping is not permitted
- No fireworks
- No firearms
Parking and vehicles
- Park vehicles in designate parking lot only during open hours
- Leave accessible parking spaces for persons with disabilities
- Keep fire routes open
- Stay on pathways and roadways, follow the posted signs
- No off-road vehicles or all-terrain vehicles
No smoking
No smoking or use of tobacco products on City beaches in accordance with City of Kenora By-law 084-2015.
Smoke Free Ontario Act applies to children's playgrounds and publicly owned sport fields and surfaces (e.g., areas for basketball, baseball, soccer or beach volleyball, ice rinks, tennis courts, splash pads and swimming pools that are owned by a municipality, the province or a postsecondary education institution)
