In alignment with the Province of Ontario’s Blue Box Regulation under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016, recyclable materials brought to the Transfer Station Recycling Depot or dropped at the Rural Recycle Depots no longer need to be sorted by material type. All of the recycling bins at the Depot can accept mixed recyclables, excluding glass. Glass continues to be collected in a dedicated bin.
Customers will experience shorter wait times at the Depot as there is no longer a requirement to sort recyclables into multiple bins.
Accepted recyclable materials at the Depots includes:
- boxboard
- cardboard
- paper
- plastic containers with #1, #2 and #5 identifiers
- tin containers
The City encourages users to recycle all applicable materials to support the reuse of materials and reduce the amount of material sent to Landfills.
We thank you for your cooperation and continued effort to recycle at the curbside or Recycle Depot.
