Ontario Museum Association Honours Lori Nelson with Distinguished Career Award of Excellence
The Muse: Lake of the Woods Museum and Douglas Family Art Centre is proud to announce that former Director Lori Nelson is the recipient of this year’s Ontario Museum Association Distinguished Career Award of Excellence. The award was presented via Zoom during the OMA’s annual Awards of Excellence Ceremony on Friday, October 27.
The Distinguished Career Award of Excellence is presented to an individual who, over an extended period, has created a lasting and meaningful legacy in the Ontario museums community. Lori was nominated for this award by her peers and colleagues. Throughout her career, Lori has been a flexible, forward-thinking leader in the Ontario museum sector and her work was recognized regionally, provincially, and nationally. Notably, she shepherded the project that became the Douglas Family Art Centre and oversaw the transformation of the Lake of the Woods Museum into The Muse: Lake of the Woods Museum and Douglas Family Art Centre in 2019. As Braden Murray, Director of The MUSE, aptly puts it, "Without Lori Nelson, there would be no Muse."
