Back to SearchPlease be advised that there are several construction works that are taking place in the Lakeside area that is causing significant traffic congestion.
Some of this roadwork was planned infrastructure upgrades that were scheduled to take place, and other areas such as the Safeway bridge (First Avenue South) closure is an emergency water main break that is taking significantly longer to repair than initially anticipated.
Please understand that the contractors and City staff are working diligently to complete the various repairs and infrastructure works.
Currently, we do not have a confirmed reopening date or time for the Safeway bridge emergency repair. Until such time as the closures can reopen portions of Lakeside streets, we encourage the public to plan and use the Walmart/Mikana Way route to and from Lakeside. This will cause less delays in your travel and you can plan accordingly with your travel time through this route.
We will be advising the public as soon as we know when crews will complete and reopen the Safeway bridge area.
