The City is excited to kick off Small Business Month this October, a time to recognize and celebrate the vibrant local businesses that play a vital role in our community. From family-owned shops and cafes to innovative startups and skilled trades, small businesses in Kenora are essential to driving economic growth, creating jobs, and providing unique goods and services to residents and visitors.
The Economic Development Department at the City, along with the Northwest Business Centre, Northwestern Ontario Innovation Centre, Kenora and District Chamber of Commerce, Lake of the Woods Business Incentive Corporation, and BDC, are thrilled to host a month-long celebration in support of Kenora's small business community.
Throughout October, members of the host committee will visit local businesses, greet owners and employees, and take photos to highlight on social media. The goal is to bring attention to the amazing work happening behind the scenes in Kenora’s small business sector.
In addition to these visits, Small Business Month will feature a variety of events, from workshops and networking opportunities to a scavenger hunt, ensuring there’s something for everyone—whether you’re a business owner, an aspiring entrepreneur, or a loyal customer.
Join us as we celebrate the heart and soul of Kenora’s economy and show your support for our local businesses this October!
Mayor Andrew Poirier said, "Small Business Month is a chance for Kenora to come together and celebrate the hardworking individuals who bring their passion and creativity to our local economy. We encourage everyone to participate, support local, and get inspired by our city’s entrepreneurial spirit."
