Keewatin Library Closure

Effective immediately, the Keewatin Library and Keewatin Senior Centre are closed. 

The Keewatin Library building located on Ottawa Street has been deemed unsafe for occupancy due to a structural issue with the roof. 

This building holds programming for library services as well as our Keewatin Senior Centre which will be impacted by this closure. 

The City will be temporarily relocating the senior centre programming to the Keewatin Arena while there are no ice rentals in the facility and a plan for a longer term option for senior programming is underway. Library services will be available through the Kenora Branch and digital service is available 24/7. 

The City Engineers will be working to address the structural issues with the building and next steps will be considered in the coming months. In the coming days a plan will be made to bring service back to Keewatin in some capacity. 

We recognize this is disruptive to those citizens who use the facility and apologize for the inconvenience this will cause.
