We are seeking Host Homes for University level students that are engaged in summer employment with the City of Kenora. This is an affordable and beneficial experience for our students, while providing a small income for those willing to share their home for the summer.
We are looking to connect our summer student employees with home owners for the purpose of renting a room between the months of April to September of 2023.
It is expected that interested homeowners would be able to provide:
- a clean, safe environment
- a clear criminal record check and a vulnerable sector check
- a furnished private bedroom that would not be shared with anyone other than the student.
- access to and use of suitable washroom facilities including shower, toilet, sink, with a functioning door that can be locked during use
- access to and use of a kitchen facility to allow the student to store and make their own meals. Host Homeowners can offer the opportunity for the student to share in meals and snacks provided by the homeowner.
- clear guidelines for the summer student with respect to household rules, curfews, mealtimes, and chores such as cleaning of the bathroom, bedroom and kitchen space after use, helping with grass cutting or taking the garbage out, etc.
