Calling all youth and young adults, ages 12 and up! Join us during the Saturdays in September (September 14, 21 and 28) at the Moncrief Construction Sports Centre Skatepark from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. for an exhilarating Urban Art Workshop and Mural Planning Session featuring the renowned artist Nereo Zorro and talented local urban artists!
Nereo Zorro, celebrated for his urban art inspired by nature, multiculturalism, and cultural identity, will guide event goers through an urban art information session and workshop each Saturday. Known for his unique works of art, Nereo's creations intricately weave together people, animals, and nature, conveying diverse stories rich with symbolism and elaborate forms.
We are excited to see how Nereo’s creativity paired with the imagination of our youth and local artists will combine to help create a plan for a new mural in the skatepark. Gain invaluable insights into urban art techniques while revitalizing the skatepark with the creativity of our youth.
“Both Nereo and our local artists are thrilled to showcase and connect with our urban youth in the vibrant setting of urban art. We can all take pride in this, and I’m excited to witness the community coming together to craft a masterpiece," states Andrew Smith, General Manager of Recreation and Culture in Community Services.
