The City’s current Capital Projects schedule includes the Essex Road Grade Raise Project, with the purpose of raising the Essex Road elevation to minimize the concerns and risks of flooding when surrounding water levels rise.
This project is an important part of our Capital Projects schedule that will be completed in two phases
- A drilling program to assess the soil conditions under the existing road to ensure that any work to raise the road will be well supported by the subgrade;
-
The road construction itself, which will raise the driving surface.
The City is planning to start drilling work in late fall 2024. Following receipt of the drilling report and provided the subgrade can support a grade raise within the planned schedule, the construction work will be designed and tendered for the spring of 2025.
Drilling and gravelling works are less temperature sensitive and will be completed in the offseason while projects like paving and piping installations are only successful when completed during our warmer months.
The City is eager to begin this priority work on the Essex Road this fall and we are fully committed to completing this work.
Your continued patience and support are greatly appreciated as we progress through our Capital Projects schedule.
