Council Supports Moving Ahead with Crime Prevention and Community Well-Being Advisory Committee
On February 15, Council approved the Terms of Reference for the Crime Prevention and Community Well-Being Advisory Committee, signaling moving ahead with the important work of this Committee of Council.
The existing Terms of Reference was amended to include voting members from the judicial system, youth probation, a member of Council, and a member from the business community. The City will start recruiting for committee members to fulfill seats from various sectors specified in the new Terms of Reference.
The City is now actively recruiting for the Community Safety and Well-Being Coordinator. Reporting to the Crime Prevention and Community Well-Being Advisory Committee, the Community Safety and Well-Being Coordinator will serve as a resource, information gathering and advisory body to Council on matters relating to crime prevention and community well-being. The City is also actively seeking a consultant to begin work on the development of the Community Safety and Well-Being Plan. Through this development we will be seeking public feedback and input into the plan through the committee and through the Coordinator role.
