The Community Safety Survey is approaching the end of the collection period, and the community has only a few days left to participate.
The City of Kenora’s Crime Prevention and Community Well-Being Advisory Committee (CPCWB) launched a month-long community survey on February 1, which will close on February 29 at midnight. The survey is a considerable piece of the process which will gather valuable information and help contribute to the development of Kenora’s Community Safety and Well-Being plan.
The survey questions have been designed to give a snapshot in time of the community’s experiences and what their perceptions are on safety, well-being, and related topics.
“Your perspectives play a pivotal role in shaping a comprehensive plan, ensuring it reflects the diverse needs of our visitors and residents. Let's unite in this endeavour, working hand in hand to construct a community that prioritizes the safety and well-being of each and every resident”.” said CPCWB chair, Darcia Curtis.
“Community safety and crime prevention is a priority of Council and the work that the CPCWB committee is doing will not only shape the direction of our new plan but will also aid us in addressing ongoing concerns in our community. We are fortunate to have a strong Committee with diverse backgrounds and expertise in their respective fields who are giving a great deal of time to ensure we are getting this process right” states Mayor Andrew Poirier.
The Committee would like to encourage everyone to complete the survey prior to the deadline and ensure that their perspectives are heard. We are particularly focused on gathering additional data from the younger demographic of 18 to 25 which will help to round out the participation we are seeing to date.
Everyone 18 and over, who has a connection to Kenora, as a resident, neighbour, seasonal visitor, etc., is encouraged to fill out the online survey and have their say. Paper copies are also available by contacting Eric Shih, Community Safety and Well-being Coordinator.
