Joining a Board or Committee of Council is a great way to get involved, provide valuable insight, and gain experience with local government. City Council is seeking citizens interested in serving as a Member of the following:
- The Muse Board
- Accessibility Advisory Committee
The term of appointment is up to November 30, 2026 (at the pleasure of Council).
The Muse Board
The Muse Board controls and manages the Lake of the Woods Museum and the Douglas Family Art Centre for the purpose of collecting, preserving, researching, exhibiting and interpreting the material culture of this region and the visual arts as defined by policy.
Accessibility Advisory Committee
The role of the Accessibility Advisory Committee is to provide advice and direction to City Council on a wide range of accessibility matters, the development and implementation of the annual Municipal Accessibility Plan, and advising Council on issues relating to citizens with a disability. Please note members must commit to a monthly meeting lasting 1 to 2 hours. All are welcome to apply; however, we are looking specifically for representation of people with disabilities or people who represent people with disabilities of:
- culturally deaf
- mental illness
- mobility
- hard of hearing and deafened
- visually impaired or blind
- brain injured
