The City and Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 191 have been in collective bargaining aimed at achieving a renewal of the collective agreement for our 140 front-line workers. The bargaining teams have reached a tentative agreement.
“Council is pleased that the parties were able to reach a tentative agreement. This means that our CUPE Local 191 workers will continue to deliver the day-to-day services that are important to our community. We thank both parties for their determination to reach a resolution and the ongoing commitment to the process,” stated Mayor Andrew Poirier.
The strike deadline has been postponed to Friday, March 14, pending the results of the ratification.
The details of the tentative agreement will remain confidential until the ratification vote occurs.
The City remains optimistic that an agreement can be reached. Should the ratification not pass, a contingency plan is in place to maintain essential City services in the event of a labour disruption.
Details will follow closer to the postponed strike deadline.
