The City of Kenora is excited to announce the appointment of Jon Taylor as the new Chief Building Official. Jon brings a wealth of experience as a carpenter and building inspector, having previously held the roles of Deputy Chief Building Official and Chief Building Official throughout Southern Ontario. Although most of his career has been spent in Southern Ontario, Kenora feels like home to him, reminding him of his roots in New Brunswick.
The Chief Building Official plays a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of residents. Jon will oversee the administration and enforcement of the Ontario Building Code, ensuring compliance with all building and plumbing regulations and that proper inspections are conducted. He will also be responsible for enforcing Provincial Statutes and Regulations as they apply to buildings and structures, while leading and developing a team of Building Inspectors.
“Jon’s extensive background as a carpenter and building inspector will be invaluable as we continue to uphold the high standards of safety and compliance in our community's building practices,” stated Janis Pochalio, Director of Planning and Building Services. “His expertise will enhance the City’s capacity to manage building developments effectively, ensuring they are both compliant and beneficial to our community.”
"We are thrilled to welcome Jon as our new Chief Building Official. His expertise will be crucial in advancing building development initiatives and facilitating much-needed housing growth in Kenora,” says Mayor Poirier.
“I am honoured to take on the role of Chief Building Official for the City of Kenora,” says Jon Taylor. “I look forward to working closely with our dedicated team and engaging with the community to enhance our building safety and compliance efforts. Together, we will work tirelessly to improve the safety and well-being of all residents.”
We are confident that Jon’s leadership will enhance our community, drive growth, and significantly address Kenora’s housing needs. We encourage the community to join us in welcoming him to this important role and look forward to his contributions in improving building and plumbing safety compliance as well as advancing building development initiatives.
