The City of Kenora has launched a survey to gather feedback from ratepayers on spending and priorities for the 2024 Municipal budget.
As preliminary discussions have already begun around the 2024 budget, it is essential that the process be transparent and engaging. Launching the Rethinking Budgeting survey allows residents to be involved in the budget process at their convenience with ease. The survey asks questions such as what residents are most proud of, which services are most important, and where the City should focus its efforts for 2024.
Each year the City of Kenora produces a balanced municipal budget, which is the City's most important document outlining how resources are collected and allocated. Throughout the budget process, the City ensures the services provided to residents align with the priorities identified by Council in the City's Strategic Plan: Charting Our Course 2022 to 2027.
There are several ways residents can participate in the annual budget process, including:
- reviewing budget information on Kenora.ca;
- reaching out to a Councillor;
- following the City of Kenora on social media;
- attending or watching a Council meeting; or
- registering to speak at a Council meeting.
The City included a link to the Rethinking Budgeting Survey in the recent tax bill mail-out to all City of Kenora property owners. Residents can also find the survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/rethinkingbudgeting. Paper copies are available at City Hall. The survey will stay open for responses until August 25, 2023.
