The City of Kenora is pleased to announce the introduction of a new incentive to help accelerate private sector investment in Kenora.
Council supported a By-Law which provides the opportunity for the City to enter into agreements for private sector projects that can clearly demonstrate public benefit in the interest of the municipality. Benefits can include long-term employment creation, development of a destination or tourist attraction, installation of infrastructure that results in broader use by the community. This incentive allows the City to attract new investment to the City to stimulate employment and increase the tax base.
“We’ve heard from developers that other municipalities are offering incentives. Not having them puts the City at a disadvantage when trying to attract new investment. With this By-Law in place, the City has increased its competitiveness and is now more attractive for investment.” states Mayor Andrew Poirier.
