The City of Kenora is pleased to announce the appointment of Ed Mandamin as our Indigenous Relations Advisor. Mandamin will be pivotal in fostering collaborative relationships between the City and Indigenous communities in this newly established role.
Mandamin brings a wealth of experience to this new position. He is a member of Iskatewizaagegan #39 Independent First Nation and Pelican Clan. He has a degree in Native Studies and is an author and public speaker, regularly presenting to schools and organizations on topics related to treaties, residential schools, and Aboriginal law and history.

The City warmly welcomes Mandamin to the team and is eagerly looking forward to the positive changes his role as an Indigenous Relations Advisor will bring. His presence at City Hall will advance inclusion, build strong and respectful relationships with Indigenous communities, and enhance our understanding and awareness of Truth and Reconciliation.
In his new role, Mandamin will provide strategic leadership, expertise and guidance on the City’s approach to fostering positive relationships with respective Indigenous organizations and First Nations Communities within Kenora and Treaty 3 Communities. Mandamin will work closely with Indigenous leaders, community members, Council and City Administration to identify partnership opportunities, address concerns, and implement initiatives that promote cultural understanding and mutual respect.
Mandamin's appointment reflects the City's commitment to reconciliation, diversity, and inclusion. By prioritizing Indigenous perspectives and fostering meaningful partnerships, the City is steadfast in its goal to build more harmonious relationships with our Treaty 3 partners and communities for generations to come.
