City Announces New Director of Engineering and Infrastructure Services
The City of Kenora is pleased to announce that Greg Breen, has accepted the role of Director of Engineering & Infrastructure Services, effective February 6, 2023.
The City engaged an independent recruitment firm, which conducted an extensive search that attracted high-quality candidates from across the country. The City sought a candidate who was not only an experienced engineer, but held strong unique leadership skills. Greg is a technical leader with a strong interest in positive culture and building effective, high performing teams.
Greg is a Professional Engineer (Mechanical) who joins the City from Graham Construction in Calgary, AB. Greg brings over twelve years of construction and maintenance project Management experience covering both Infrastructure and Industrial works from Vancouver, BC to Fort McMurray, AB.
As Director of Engineering and Infrastructure Services, Greg is responsible for overseeing the operation of the City’s Utilities, Public Works, and Engineering departments where he will support both the delivery of Capital Projects and the renewal and maintenance of the City’s infrastructure.
Greg’s wife was born and raised in Kenora and he has been a regular visitor to the Kenora area for the last 8 years. With a daughter nearing two years old, Greg and his family are so happy to be putting down roots in Kenora, close to relatives.

Chief Administrative Officer Kyle Attanasio states, “Greg’s breadth of experience in engineering and project management is extremely valuable to our organization and we are already seeing the benefits of his insights early on in his tenure. His calming influence and strong leadership skills will be critical as we undertake some substantial long term planning initiatives for the City’s complex infrastructure network. We are thrilled to have Greg join us at the City.”
After 32 years with the City of Kenora, Marco Vogrig, Municipal Engineer and Acting Director of Engineering and Infrastructure over the past year, will retire at the end of September. Marco’s extensive knowledge of the City’s infrastructure and engineering projects will be deeply missed. He leaves a lasting legacy of strong, principled engineering as well as collaborative relationships throughout the organization and numerous contractors. We wish Marco much health and happiness in his retirement!
