City administration and the Central Community Club Board have been working diligently with the general contractor and architect to finalize the details for the construction of the new Central Community Club facilities.
The construction work the public may have observed in the park area during the late summer months were related to the underground work required to the civil infrastructure upgrades. These works were completed in late September and were an integral part of the project.
Designs have now been finalized for the new club house and the final engineering specifications are taking place for the new outdoor rink. While the City and Board were optimistic that construction could begin before the change of seasons, we have experienced delays due to unexpected soil conditions and the revision of the final design and engineering plans.
Unfortunately, submitted construction pricing did not include heating and hoarding for concrete curing which has ultimately resulted in the construction being delayed until the spring of 2022.
The City and the Central Community Club Board remain committed to this project and the enhancements to the Central Park area. While it is unfortunate that the development will not take place in 2021, we are confident the project will be completed in 2022 and the lights will be on at the rink this time next year.
We thank everyone for their patience and support throughout this project.
