The City of Kenora, in partnership with the Central Community Club Board, warmly invites all residents and their families to the Grand Opening of the updated Central Community Club, located at 730 First Street South, on November 8, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. This exciting, family-friendly event promises a delightful evening packed with fun, engaging activities and a chance to connect with your neighbours.
The celebration will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and welcoming remarks from Mayor Andrew Poirier. Joining him will be other City Council members and representatives from the Central Community Club Board, all coming together to mark this significant milestone with other enthusiastic community members.
“Our community thrives when we come together. The new Central Community Club provides an exciting opportunity for families and individuals to gather and engage,” says Mayor Andrew Poirier. “This updated space will be a cornerstone for connection. I invite everyone to join us in celebrating this fantastic addition to our community!"
Attendees of the Grand Opening on November 8 can look forward to a BBQ fundraiser, with proceeds benefiting future community initiatives. There will also be a historical display showcasing the rich heritage of the Central Community Club through photographs over the years.
The City’s Recreation and Culture team has planned a variety of games and activities to keep young ones smiling and having fun throughout the event, including cornhole, ladder ball, three-legged races, and more. Guests of all ages will also be delighted by special four-legged guests from It’s a Dog’s Life, providing attendees with the opportunity to interact with adorable dogs looking for loving homes.
"The Central Community Club is a testament to our government’s commitment to supporting vibrant, multi-use facilities in the Northwest,” said Greg Rickford, MPP for Kenora-Rainy River and Minister of Northern Development. “By leveraging funding across provincial ministries, we are investing in spaces that not only benefit families and individuals of all ages but also strengthen the fabric of our community. This updated facility will serve as a hub for connection, recreation, and engagement for years to come."
The new Central Community Club building is made possible by the commitment and support of the Central Community Club Board and funding from the Province of Ontario and the Government of Canada through the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP).
Gather your family and friends and join us in celebrating our new community space on November 8! We look forward to seeing you there and sharing many more activities in our community in the future.
