The City of Kenora is pleased to announce that a captivating and vibrant art display will soon appear on Kenora’s harbourfront, offering an interactive experience for locals and visitors alike.
The Economic Development and Tourism Department has been working with WKNDRS, designers of experiences, environments, culture and movements on creating two special 3D installations as a part of the Glad You Are Here Campaign. The Campaign focuses on messaging, events and marketing initiatives that welcome Kenora residents, seasonal residents, neighbouring communities and visitors to our local businesses and City in the summer!
The 3D installations will include a photobooth-type design and a showstopper item that captures the Glad You Are Here message and spirit of Kenora. The installations will be showcased at the Harbourfront and will provide a picturesque “Instagram moment”, with Lake of the Woods as the backdrop. These installations will be installed on Monday, June 24 and will be ready for their close-ups in the afternoon.
We encourage everyone to get creative and share your unique photos of the 3D installations. Be sure to tag @tourismkenora, @kenandnora and @wkndrsforlife in your photos on both Instagram and Facebook. This will help us track and celebrate your experiences with the new 3D installations.
This project is funded by the Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT). The MAT is a visitor tax that is utilized to support tourism and economic development projects in the City of Kenora.
About the WKNDRS
WKNDRS is created and cultivated by Rachel Rivera and Claire Ouchi. Fueling their passion for art, design and spreading positive vibes to the world. Key themes that are ever present in their collaborative work include unorthodox, light and playful aesthetics where colour plays an effervescent role.
Their goal is to translate unique art and design concepts into real, tangible experiences guaranteed to make a lasting impact for brands, businesses, residential, hospitality and commercial spaces. They believe everything can be a canvas and look to question and push the boundaries of where art can be created and seen.
