“The Kenora Recreation Centre is an essential part of our vibrant, healthy and active community,” said Daniel Reynard, Mayor of the City of Kenora. “The planned improvements inside the facility along with the significant investment in the baseball diamonds and tennis courts will positively impact the lifespan of our recreation facility and amenities and enhance the quality of life we all enjoy. We are grateful to have this provincial funding support and are excited to start these major upgrades.”
The City is committed to maintaining and managing our facilities for users now and for future generations. The last major renovation at the Kenora Recreation Centre took place in 2005 with the expansion of the pool and multipurpose area. This investment promotes recreation and healthy lifestyles and strengthens community and social connections for everyone.
"The approval of the provincial funding comes at a great time as we finalize the new Parks and Recreation Master Plan for the City. Thinking about the last significant improvement at the recreation centre in 2005 and our vision for the facility in the new Master Plan, we are thrilled with what todays funding announcement means for Kenora residents and the future. Thank you to the Provincial government for this support to enhance active lifestyles in Kenora." States Kyle Attanasio, CAO for the City of Kenora.
This project will see a total investment of $5,000,000 in infrastructure upgrades at the Kenora Recreation Centre, ball diamonds and tennis courts over the next three to four years.
