Kenora Opens New Dog Park

Today Mayor and Council officially unlocked the gate to the City’s first permanent off-leash dog park. The new dog park, located behind the A & W ball diamonds, answers the call from dog enthusiasts for a much needed off-leash space in the municipality.
Work began in the spring of 2021 to overhaul the 2.5 acres of vacant land creating a suitable place for dogs to socialize and exercise. This completely fenced-in site offers two separated areas for play and leash-free running, one for puppies...

Today, City Council received a presentation on the draft tourism and economic development strategy.
The draft document, created in consultation with Urban Systems, provides broader direction for tourism and economic development as well as directs the use and allocation of Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) revenues for a five-year period. Site Work Development Former Mill Lands

Please be advised that beginning Wednesday, June 16, Kenon Builders will begin preliminary site development on the former mill property. The location will be off of Ninth Street North close to Mellick Avenue on the former mill lands.
This preliminary road work development will lead to the eventual use of the property which will be mixed use of residential and commercial developments.

Central Community Club Progress

Over the coming weeks and months the public will see a great deal of activity in the Central Park area. An Expression of Interest (EOI) was issued in April for the design and development of the new Club and several submissions to the EOI were received. The submissions are now being evaluated, and an RFP will be issued to the short list proponents with an RFP due date of June 10th. The City is grateful to receive financial assistance for a downtown landscaping project this summer. Receiving $5,000 from Kal’s RePlay Fund to implement improvements to over 120 tree wells throughout the Harbourtown Centre will make impressive enhancements to the downtown. The landscaping project fills the base of the tree with recycled rubber product to level out the surface and bring it up to grade.
