Fire Hydrant Work

Please be advised that Park Street between Sixth Avenue South and Seventh Avenue South will be closed on Monday, September 16, and Tuesday, September 17, to complete a hydrant repair.
Following the completion of the hydrant repair on Park Street, the crew will proceed to work on a hydrant located on Second Street South.
Second Street South between Chipman Street and Fourth Avenue South will be closed on Tuesday, September 17 until Friday, September 20, to complete a fire hydrant replacement.
Tenth Street Closure

Please be advised that Tenth Street from Erie Street to Highway 17 will be closed from Monday, September 16, to Friday, September 20, to continue the road improvement project.
Motorists and pedestrians are reminded to follow detours through the construction area. Local traffic will be permitted.

2025 Community Improvement Plan Program Launched

Today, the City of Kenora opened application intake for the Community Improvement Plan (CIP) programs in the Harbourtown Centre, Keewatin and the Former Mill Site. These programs can provide funding for projects in specific areas of the municipality to support economic development, affordable housing, revitalization, enhanced streetscapes and building facades. Funding for the CIP programs are considered on an annual basis by Council.

Norman Park Playground Completions

Please be advised that upgrades are continuing at Norman Park over the next two weeks, including:
- adding a border around the new gravity rail area,
- adding a pathway to the gravity rail play area, and
- surface grading.
During this time, fencing will be erected in the parking lot, portions of the paved pathway from the Splash Park to the Beach and around the new gravity rail area. The fencing layout will adjust as the work progresses.

The City has appointed Dexter Hupe as Kenora Fire and Emergency Services Acting Fire Chief effective September 23, after receiving the resignation of Chief David Pratt.
