Essex Road Geotechnical Work

Please be advised that a portion of Essex Road, from the Hooterville Trail for approximately 800 meters north, will be reduced to one lane from August 12 to 16, between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., to accommodate geotechnical work.
There may be traffic delays. Motorists are reminded to obey traffic signs posted in the construction zone.
We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation during this investigative work.
City Unveils New Accessible Path and Upgraded Playground at Norman Park

Update - August 13, 2024
Event has been postponed to near future. Date to be determined. Postponed due to completing signage on the pathway and the playground gravity rail.
The City is excited to announce significant park enhancements, including a new accessible paved path and an updated playground to Norman Park Beach.

Council Breaks for August

Please be advised that City of Kenora Council will not hold its regular meetings in August.
The next regular Committee of the Whole meeting is Tuesday, September 10, at 9 a.m., followed by the regular Council meeting on Tuesday, September 17, at 5 p.m.
The meeting agenda and documents can be found on our Agenda and Minutes page no later than Monday, September 9, 2024.
What's Open, Closed This Civic Holiday

On the Civic Holiday, Monday, August 5, the following City facilities are open:
- Thistle Pavilion, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Lake of the Woods Discovery Centre, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Muse Kenora is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
All other City buildings and facilities are closed, including the Transfer Station and Recycle Depot, Kenora and Keewatin Public Libraries, City Hall, Moncrief Construction Sports Centre, and Bowman Electric Keewatin Memorial Arena.
There is no bus service on the holiday.

Essex Road Repairs Scheduled for Fall 2024

The City’s current Capital Projects schedule includes the Essex Road Grade Raise Project, with the purpose of raising the Essex Road elevation to minimize the concerns and risks of flooding when surrounding water levels rise.
This project is an important part of our Capital Projects schedule that will be completed in two phases
