Council Approves Key Improvements for Keewatin Public Library and Portage Bay Bridge

The City is pleased to announce that Council has approved budget spending for key infrastructure projects during this evening's Regular Meeting, including the roof replacement for the Keewatin Public Library and repairs to the Portage Bay Bridge.

Highway 17 West and Lakeview Drive Roadside Maintenance

Please be advised that traffic will be reduced to one lane, or intermittently closed, on Wednesday, May 14, as per the following:
- Beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Highway 17 West between St. Clair Street and May Avenue; and
- Beginning at 12:30 p.m. on Lakeview Drive, from 100 meters east of Parsons Street to 250 meters east of Parsons Street.
Motorists are advised to proceed cautiously and follow traffic control.

What's Open, Closed This Victoria Day Holiday

On Monday, May 19, the Lake of the Woods Discovery Centre is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
All other City buildings and facilities are closed, including the Transfer Station, Kenora Public Library, The Muse, Operations Centre, City Hall, Bowman Electric Keewatin Memorial Arena, and Moncrief Construction Sports Centre.
The Wave, microtransit service, does not operate on the holiday.
Coney Island recycle and waste collection starts Tuesday, May 20.
Emergency services on duty as usual.

Matheson Street South Road Closure

Please be advised that a section of Matheson Street South between First Street North and McClellan Avenue will be closed for a water dig beginning Monday, May 26, for approximately three days. The work area will remain closed overnight until the repair work is completed.
Motorists are advised to follow detour signs and use alternative routes around the work area as noted in the detour map.
