Keewatin Library Update, Senior Programming and Library Services Continue

The City announced on June 28, 2024, that the Keewatin Library and Keewatin Senior Centre, located on Ottawa Street, will be closed until further notice due to structural issues with the roof. The safety of residents is our top priority, and we are committed to addressing this situation with care while continuing to provide library and senior programs to the community.

The City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services is calling on all residents to test their smoke alarms on September 28 as part of Test Your Smoke Alarm Day. Be prepared to be Saved by the Beep with a working smoke alarm – it is your best chance to keep you and your family safe in the event of a fire.
Our Fire and Emergency Services team is joining communities across Ontario on September 28 by asking everyone to take a minute and to ensure that there are working smoke alarms installed in their home.
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

In recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, all City facilities, with the exception of Emergency Services, will be closed on Monday, September 30.
City Staff are continuing their journey in learning the truth of our history, during Truth and Reconciliation Week through daily staff education participation from September 23 to September 27.

Tenth Street Road Closure

Please be advised that Tenth Street from Ottawa Street to Lakeview Drive will be closed from Monday, September 23 to Friday, September 27, 2024, to continue the road improvement project.
Motorists and pedestrians are reminded to follow detours through the construction area. Local traffic will be permitted.

East Mellick Road Lane Closure for Road Repairs

Please be advised that road repairs will be occurring on East Mellick Road starting on Monday, September 23, 2024, and will continue until Friday, September 27, 2024.
There will be single lane traffic and traffic delays can be expected while the repairs are taking place.
Motorists and pedestrians are reminded to obey the signs and traffic controls. Use caution when heavy equipment is working.
