Skaters will develop figure skating skills in the areas of ice dance, skating skills, free skate and interpretive skating. In StarSkate levels 1-2, skaters are taught in a group lesson format and transition to a combination of group and private lessons beginning in level 3. Skaters will progress through a series of Skate Canada assessments and may choose to compete in open, invitational and qualifying events.
Prerequisite: CanSkate level 6.

This program introduces the skater to the sport of figure skating and provides an opportunity to skaters interested in the sport but uncertain about committing to an entire season. Skaters will have the opportunity to spend half time in CanSkate and half time in Star 1 while working on CanSkate badges.

Designed for skaters moving into figure skating programs with Skate Canada. Skaters will attend test day and competitions and will focus on the four disciplines of figure skating – dance, skills, free skate and interpretive. Coaches will work closely with skaters and parents to provide a positive learning environment.
