The City of Kenora’s Roads Division is responsible for road maintenance throughout the year. It monitors, maintains and repairs 957 kilometers of paved streets, surface treated roads and gravel roads. The Division’s goal is to keep our roads in a sound state of repair by choosing the right treatment for the right road at the right time. Maintenance tasks vary for each road type and for all seasons, and particularly with winter road maintenance. The Roads Division is also entrusted with the maintenance of all roads related infrastructure such as sidewalks, laneways, alleys, bridges, culverts, storm sewer lines, catch basins, and ditches.
Efficiency and effectiveness plays a vital role in selecting maintenance strategies and policies. Annual road rehabilitation and reconstruction programs are in place to address the roads infrastructure deficiencies and yield optimum service for our resident’s tax dollars.
The City of Kenora works hard to maintain our transportation infrastructure, to provide the services you have come to depend on and to expand our systems to keep pace with population and economic development in our community.
23 front line staff along with a fleet of 100 licensed vehicles and 75 pieces of equipment are dedicated to the maintenance tasks and services required.
