In addition to curb-side collection, the City of Kenora offers recycling and garbage drop-offs for several materials.
There are also special days reserved for special materials. Here, you’ll be able to find that information so that you’ll be able to dispose of your waste materials in the most humane way. From the Christmas tree recycling program to the disposal of hazardous waste, you’ll know how, and when to get rid of, or recycle all your waste.
Christmas Tree Recycling
The City of Kenora encourages residents to recycle their Christmas trees.
For the month of January you may deposit your Christmas tree at the Transfer Facility located at 401 Mellick Avenue during regular operating hours. During this period regular tipping fees are waived and your Christmas trees are accepted free of charge.
To assist in the chipping of your Christmas tree, you are required to remove any plastic bags or ornaments prior to leaving it at the Transfer Facility. The Christmas trees are then chipped on site and are available for residents to utilize for landscaping purposes at no charge.
NOTE: Please do not leave your trees at the A & W ball field as this is no longer a depot site for tree recycling.
