The Electrical Safety Authority (ESA) is responsible for the electrical safety of the public in Ontario. All wiring in Ontario must be completed according to the Ontario Electrical Code and must be inspected by the ESA. The ESA also inspects all new electrical meter installations, as well as meters that have been disconnected more than 6 consecutive months. Kenora Hydro is not permitted to connect customers to their distribution system without an ESA inspection.
The ESA provides information for both consumers and businesses. Safety alerts, training, government regulations and contractor information are just some of the many services that the ESA offers.
Visit the Office of the Fire Marshall Ontario or 1-800-263-7418 for information regarding public service announcements, power failure safety, product recalls and warnings and other fire safety information. The Office of the Fire Marshall has created a safety notice for customers who have had their hydro disconnected.
