During the past four years the City of Kenora’s economy has turned around tremendously and we can feel the optimism and excitement in the air!
With the completion of Downtown Revitalization Phase III Second Street South the entire City will reap the rewards of this investment in the very near future. We are looking forward to the completion of Downtown Revitalization plans over the next four years.
With our recent rebranding as “North America’s Premier Boating Destination” along with the tremendous success of the Matiowski Farmers’ Market, tourism is thriving and well in Kenora and we expect it will continue to grow. The restart of Kenora Forest Products mill in 2015 will also help boost our manufacturing sector, in addition to the interest of other manufacturers in making Kenora their community of choice. We will be aggressively pursuing seniors’ apartments and assisted living facilities in order to meet this growing demand. Council looks forward to working with the new Lake of the Woods Development Commission and other community partners to continue with the success of building Kenora’s future.
The City will continue to make Kenora the premier destination for people to live, work and play. We will seek ways to hold the line on taxes and build the tax base so people can continue to live in the most beautiful place in Canada.
I would like to thank all of our many great volunteers and City staff who make Kenora the magnificent place that it is today with so many things to offer.
