Exhibit Opens at The Lake of the Woods Museum on March 14, 2017
(Kenora, ON) – Threadworks 2016: FLASHBACK, a juried traveling needlework art exhibit is being presented at the Lake of the Woods Museum in Kenora Ontario. The exhibit runs from March 14 until April 29, 2017.
What do selfies, children’s games, journals, old newspapers, beaded jewellery and log houses have in common? They are all connected to personal memories, are all part of Threadworks 2016: FLASHBACK and can all be seen at the Lake of the Woods Museum until April 29.
Threadworks 2016: FLASHBACK is a special project of the Ontario Network of Needleworkers which showcases exceptional and creative needlework by artists from across Canada. Artists were encouraged to create pieces that were substantially worked with a threaded hand- or machine-needle and of original design. The theme for this year’s exhibit is “flashback.”
The 36 pieces in this exhibit are extraordinary and will take your breath away. Each artist has interpreted the theme in a unique way and the resulting artwork ranges from a Victorian snake and ladders game to a hand-stitched map to a Kimono for a Walnut Tree to a journal made of 365 hand-stitched entries depicting the artist’s year of memories.
Come in and be awed by the artistry and talent showcased in this exhibit!
