Notice of Coker Road Bridge Project Commencement

The Study

The City of Kenora (City) has retained WSP Canada Inc. (WSP) to undertake the Detail Design for the replacement of the Coker Bridge, located on Coker Road, 2.3 west of East Melick Road. The bridge location is shown on the key plan map.

To facilitate construction for the replacement of the bridge, Coker Road will be temporarily closed to through traffic for approximately 60 days at Deacon Creek. Signage will be posted in advance of the temporary closure and detour routes along Gauthier Road will be clearly marked.

The Process

This study is following the approved planning process for Group ‘B’ projects under the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (MCEA, 2015). The MCEA includes public consultation, an assessment of the potential effects of the proposed project and identification of measure required to mitigate any adverse effects. There is the opportunity for public input throughout this process (see contact information below). A Preliminary Design Report will be prepared and will be available for public review and comment at the City’s Operation Centre, 2nd Floor, 60 Fourteenth Street North, Kenora, Ontario.

Public consultation is an important part of the MCEA process. If you would like to provide comments or request additional information, please contact the Service Provider Project Manager in writing, by November 30, 2018.
