Proper Needle Disposal

Please be advised the City of Kenora reminds residents that needles or sharps must be disposed of properly for the safety of City staff and the general public.

Needles are NOT accepted in the Bluebox, in the garbage, nor at the Recycle Depot.

The Transfer Station will only accept needles at the Household Hazardous Waste Depot, which opens June 7, from 9 am to 2 pm every Thursday.  Needles must be packaged in a sealed hard plastic container, such as a peanut butter jar, for safe disposal.

There are over 30 individual sharp containers, yellow or black boxes, posted throughout the City for residents to easily access for safe disposal also.

Additionally, residents may contact the Northwestern Health Unit about the safe needle disposal program at www.nwhu.on.ca or 807-468-3147.

The City thanks the public for their cooperation.
