Voting Public Encouraged to Check the Voters’ List on VoterLookup.ca
School Boards and Municipal Election is October 22, 2018

For Immediate Release

Kenora, ON – As of March 12, 2018, Kenora residents may check to see if they are on the list to vote in the 2018 school boards and municipal election this fall. VoterLookup.ca is the platform designed by Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) to prepare and maintain the voters’ list required to support the school boards and municipal election. The voting public is encouraged to log on to VoterLookup.ca to check that their name is on the list and confirm their information. It is the responsibility of each eligible elector to make sure their information is up-to-date and accurate. To be eligible to vote, a person must be a Canadian citizen, at least 18 years of age on Voting Day, reside, own or rent land or property in the municipality.

Using VoterLookup.ca is easy and efficient. To log on, eligible electors will need their property address or assessment roll number, full name, and date of birth. Once logged in, eligible electors can also update their information, add a name to an address, or change their school support.

Data collected is used to prepare the final voters’ list and to generate the Voter Information Letter each resident will need to cast votes on Election Day October 22, 2018. Control of the data collected is of the utmost importance to MPAC and the City of Kenora. VoterLookup.ca was designed with privacy and security in mind and built by following the Privacy by Design principles. Specific information entered by each user on VoterLookUp.ca must match-up to existing data before users are permitted to add their name or apply changes to their information. This safeguard ensures only eligible voters are included on the final voters’ list.

Anyone without access to the internet to check the voters’ list may contact the Heather Kasprick, City Clerk/Returning Officer at 807-467-2295 or hkasprick@kenora.ca. Additionally, the City of Kenora Election Team will be available at the Kenora and District Chamber of Commerce Home and Leisure Show, April 27-29, 2018 to answer questions about VoterLookup.ca and the fall election.  Election news and communications are posted on Kenora.ca/Elections.
