City Extends Ice Candle Orders to Online Services
Orders for ice candles have already been coming in by paper, and now the option to order ice candles has been added to online services on Kenora.ca.
This service makes ordering ice candles more convenient for our customers through a secure and safe credit card payment system. It allows customers to place an order any time of day from anywhere. While paper order forms are still available at the Cemetery Office, City Hall and Kenora Public Libraries, the online service is more convenient for those who do not live in Kenora or for those who find it difficult to get out in the winter weather.
The deadline for all orders is Friday December 8, 2017 whether the order is placed on online or in person. Customers wanting to use the online service must register as a user to access ice candle ordering, as well as a variety of other online services. A confirmation email will be sent after the order is placed which is the receipt needed for pickup. There is a convenience fee applied to all transactions which is based on the payment amount. The cost for an ice candle to be placed and lit at the grave of your loved one is $10.00 per candle and the pick-up ice candle is $8.00. The cost remains the same as in previous years. Customers wishing to order both a place and light and a pick up ice candle online, will have to place two separate orders. Pick up orders with receipt must be picked up by Wednesday December 13, 2017 at the Cemetery Garage on Ninth Street North during regular hours.
For 19 years, the Festival of Lights has turned the Lake of the Woods Cemetery into a glowing winter scene. Many have made this festival a family Christmas tradition on Christmas Eve in memory of loved ones. Support from the community has made this a very special and unique part of Kenora’s holiday celebrations. The money raised is used for parks beautification projects.
The Lake of the Woods Cemetery would like to thank Canadian Tire and Bestway Rentals for continuing to sponsor this cemetery project.
Volunteers are needed to light the ice candles on Christmas Eve. If you would like to give your time to this special project, please contact the Cemetery Office at 807-467-2067.
